I still note his passing

Charles Ives died on this date in 1954. It was only three and a half years before I was born, so I'm guessing that was too soon for him to be reincarnated as me. I have some random thoughts about this unique composer that I've been meaning to jot down for some time, but for now, it will suffice to note the anniversary.

And I'm glad you did. (Nice to see him recalled in the midst of the big Mahler anniversary.)

Ives will probably always be one of my favorite composers, too. Lately I wish the orchestral works would show up more often on concert programs - other than The Unanswered Question. It's marvelous, but it seems to receive more air time than the symphonies (e.g.).
